Windlings: Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Windlings is a free online game you play in your browser. This page says what the game stores and what happens to it. In short: there are no accounts, and the game never asks for your name, email address or any other personal detail.
What the game stores
- A random device ID. The first time you play, your browser makes a long random code. It is kept in your browser's local storage and in a first-party cookie (for up to 400 days), so your progress comes back the next time you visit. Our server keeps only a one-way hash of it (SHA-256), never the code itself.
- Your game progress. Your creature, level, items, quests and similar game data are saved on our server under that hashed ID, so you can continue on the same device.
- Your settings. Quality, volume, controls and language are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
- A cache of game data. So the game starts faster, your browser keeps the world, building and sound data it computed itself in its own storage (IndexedDB, about 20 to 45 MB). It holds no personal data, never leaves your device and is replaced when the game updates.
- Technical connection data. To deliver the game and protect it from abuse, our servers and hosting provider process the data every web connection carries, such as your IP address and browser type.
Chat
Players cannot type free text to each other. The game only offers a fixed set of quick phrases and emotes, so no messages written by players are collected.
Analytics and ads
The game has no analytics or tracking service of its own, and it does not sell or share your data. Technical diagnostics stay in your browser.
When the game runs on Poki, Poki shows the ads and runs its own services (including cookies for ads and measurement) under Poki's Privacy Center. We do not receive that data.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The game asks for none.
Your choices
- Clearing your browser's site data and cookies for the game removes the device ID, your settings and the cache of game data from your device. Your saved progress can then no longer be linked to you.
- Because we hold no name or email, we can find saved progress only through the device ID on your device. If you want it deleted from our server, contact us (see below) and keep your browser data until we have answered.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
